We do free site appraisals within 30 minute travel time of Bayswater, VIC. Outside this area a blackberry removal site appraisal and quotation costs $100 (deducted from price if we remove your blackberry infestation).
We visit your property and meet with you (or your property agent). Together we complete a site appraisal of the blackberry infestation (or other weed infestations, bamboo, ivy, thistle), the particulars of your property (size, slope, moisture, passages between blackberry & collection areas, access to truck or skip for removal) and any complicating factors (outbuildings or other obstacles, other rubbish - metal, plastic, building materials, etc). Please allow 30 to 60 minutes for this (depending on size of property).
Most blackberry jobs are manually intensive, physical work using a combination of small machinery (metal blade whipper snippers), protective gear, and hand tools (shears, rakes, etc) to cut, collect & pile the blackberry stalks, leaves, flowers and fruit.
In less common cases the best solution is using larger equipment (excavator, Bobcat, flail mower and dump trucks) to remove an infestation.
Blackberry often conceals all manner of junk that makes removal more difficult. This ranges from wire entanglements, entire cars and machinery parts to decaying building materials, corrugated sheeting, electronic waste, etc. The quote process will include an allowance to be added, if required. The seperate collection & removal of additional waste can also be negotiated.
The proper disposal of cut and piled blackberry waste is crucial for successful eradication. Depending on the volumes, site location, etc the blackberry waste is usually removed for off-site disposal with hired skips (3 to 12 cubic metres). For larger jobs we can use a dump truck (up to 16 cubic metres). On-site burning is sometimes an option.
Depending on the particulars of each job your quotation will be costed according to the required person-work-days, the number and size of hire skips and/or the cost of larger machinery.
We usually begin jobs within a week (sometimes even next day) of finalising the quotation and agreeing on a contract with you. On the work day(s) you will need to provide access for our team, the disposal skip and any machinery. Our experienced blackberry team will arrive the morning of the agreed day. Skips are delivered the same day or the day before.
Most jobs are completed the same day depending on the size of the infestation & the property. Some larger jobs can take several days. On occassion a one day job can extend another day or two if there are unexpected complications (wire & fencing [barb wire, chicken wire, sheep wire, etc], unknown structures or machinery).
The blackberry (or other weeds) are cut at their base on ground level and the resulting waste is raked into large piles which are then transfered into a waste skip for site removal.
We will contact you when the job is close to being finished to conduct a site inspection that you are happy with.
The contracted skip company will usually pick up the skip the day after a job is completed. They will need access to your property for this.
At the end of job we will provide you an approved chemical, a 2L pump sprayer, blue-purple dye, and clear instructions to treat the remains of the blackberry infestation. This will be explained when we first meet.
Blackberries have extensive, widespread and deep root systems that, once established, will resprout and continue spreading. To prevent this you will be given precise instructions on how to spray exposed stalks, new runners, and new sprout leaves to kill these root systems and eradicating the blackberry infestation.
